Hathaway Brown has created a roundup of communication sent to members of the school community regarding the evolving COVID-19 situation, along with links to important resources for your convenience. You can find all of that information here. This page will be consistently updated.
Center for Technology & Invention
The Center for Technology & Invention allows students to build cool things using whatever technological tools are best suited to the project. Students experience all steps of the design process, from the inception phase, through multiple design iterations, leading to a finished product. The Center also serves as the home for HB’s FIRST Robotics team, Team 2399, the Fighting Unicorns.
Collaboration with other centers: Students involved with other centers, such as the Center for Business & Finance or the Center for Sustainability, may find themselves needing to invent something, in which case they may rely upon the tools and assistance of the CTI.
Robotics: Students interested in working on the electrical, mechanical, or programming aspects of robotics may join the robotics team or work on independent creative projects involving the use of robots, embedded computer systems, or other projects yet to be dreamed up. Recruitment for the robotics team, coached by Upper School Computer Science Teacher James Collins, takes place in the fall, with the build season running through January and February.
Small group/individual projects: Students who have an idea of something they’d like to create, invent, or patent may work on projects with as much guidance as they desire during their free periods or after school, taking advantage of the equipment available through the center. Projects may involve computer programming, 3D modeling, or working with materials such as (but not limited to) wood, plastic, metal, or fabric.
