Eileen LaVerde named Outstanding Teacher of the Year in math

Eileen LaVerde has been selected as the 2010 east district Outstanding Teacher of the Year by the Greater Cleveland Council of Teachers of Mathematics. A member of the Hathaway Brown School faculty since 1994, LaVerde teaches Upper School students in precalculus and calculus.

LaVerde was nominated for the award by Upper School Mathematics Department Chair Michael Buescher and GCCTM committee members unanimously agreed that she should be this year's winner.

"It was evident that Eileen clearly stood out as the top choice," said GCCTM east district director William Adler.

GCCTM is an organization that encourages mathematics teachers of all levels to meet, collaborate, and learn from each other. Members are able to network with other teachers, share best practices, and discuss the local, regional, and national issues that affect educators in mathematics fields.
