Speech and Debate coach brings state, national attention to HB

Jason Habig, HB Middle School teacher and coach of the Upper School Speech and Debate Team, shares his point of view about the state of Policy Debate in Ohio in a special piece published in the February 2010 issue of Rostrum magazine. Rostrum is published by the National Forensic League, the country's oldest and largest debate and speech honor society.

In addition to serving as advisor to the HB team, Habig is North Coast District Chairman of the National Forensic League. He and Rich Kowalics, Speech and Debate Coach for Laurel School, are overseeing the 2010 State Tournament of the Ohio High School Speech League. More than 1,100 students from six districts around the state will come to Northeast Ohio to compete in several events in a variety of disciplines March 5 and 6 on the campuses of HB, Laurel, and John Carroll University.

The 2010 event marks the first time the tournament will take place at HB.
