Mary E. Raymond Legacy Society
Established in 1994 in honor of a beloved Hathaway Brown School headmistress, this giving society recognizes alumnae and friends of the school who have shown their commitment to the future by making HB a beneficiary of their estate plans.
Members of the Mary E. Raymond Legacy Society will be remembered in perpetuity for their confidence in the excellence of an HB education.

Marc and Viki Newton Byrnes ’72 are committed grandparents and ardent supporters of Hathaway Brown where Viki is an alumna and two of their six grandchildren attend today. They are demonstrating their commitment to HB and the EC and Primary School renovations by making a blended gift through current support and their estate plans, increasing the impact it will have on future generations.
For Danielle Horvitz Weiner ‘00, Hathaway Brown’s Primary School was a magical experience. She and her husband, Michael, remain passionate about the importance of the pre-school through fourth grade years and this inspired them to support the Early Childhood and Primary School renovations.
Michelle and Rich Jeschelnig know the importance of having balance and holding on to special moments like when they would read to their daughters, Lindsey ’22 and Elyse ’27, in their younger years. Today, the Jeschelnigs are supporting the new library in EC and Prime which will be named in the family’s honor.
Sally Curtiss Fahrenthold 1955 vividly remembers the passion of her teachers and the appreciation for learning she acquired—particularly from her Latin teacher, Miss Blake, and her biology teacher, Miss Reeve. "Miss Blake deepened my appreciation of other religions and cultures. Miss Reeve took us on early morning bird walks around Shaker Lakes. Her love of the earth and its creatures went way beyond dissecting frogs."
For Diane, entering HB in 8th grade was a turning point in her life. She was a self-described "geeky" girl who loved to learn, and at HB she found excellent friends that were much like her and an environment that nurtured learning and a belief in oneself.
