NO SCHOOL – Memorial Day

Friday, June 1

Last Day of School – Serendipity Day (Noon dismissal)

Tuesday, June 5

4th Grade Closing Exercises @ 5:00pm

Serendipity Day
Serendipity Day is Friday, June 1, our last day of school. On this day we have many special celebrations including a picnic lunch. We invite parents to come and eat lunch with us on the lawn around the fountain (rain or heat plan is to eat in the dining room). We will eat lunch at 11:30am and be done for the day around 12:00pm. We do need to make sure we have enough lunch for everyone and would appreciate that you contact Eva Rosbach (erosbach@hb.edu) if you would like to join us for a pizza and ice cream sundae lunch. After lunch the girls are dismissed for a long, summer break!

If your daughter regularly rides a bus they will be dismissed at 12:00 when the buses will be leaving HB for the day.

From the Prime Library
We’re asking the girls to return all their library books by the end of next week. If there are any missing books, we’ll send an overdue notice home the last week of school. Can’t find a book?  Don’t panic!  So many books come back to us over the summer or at the beginning of the school year that we will worry about missing books in the fall.

Over the next week we’ll be giving each girl their required reading book for the summer as well as a list of suggested reading.  The suggested reading list will also be posted on the library web page closer to the end of school.  Don’t forget to have the girls record what they read in their HB reading journal—we’ll ask to see those in the fall.

4th Grade Closing Exercises Reminders
A few things to remember about the 4th grade closing exercises:

  • The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, June 5 @ 5:00pm in the Ahuja Auditorium
  • There is NO limit to the number of guests that may attend the program.
  • The girls are to wear white dresses (no longer than tea length) and white shoes. The white dresses may not be strapless, off the shoulder or have thin spaghetti straps. The white shoes need to have heel straps or backs and a low heel.
  • There will be a reception for students and their guests in the HB Atrium following the closing exercises.

Superstart
HB is proud to once again offer a variety of summer courses designed to help your child get a jump start on next school year.  The Superstart program will run from July 30 through August 10 and is open to all students in grades 3-8.  Rising third and fourth graders can take courses designed to improve their math skills, reading and writing skills, or Spanish proficiency. All course are taught by HB instructors or former instructors. For more information about these courses, please contact Jason Habig at jhabig@hb.edu or visit www.hb.edu/summer and click on the Superstart link.
