Hathaway Brown
Dear Students,

First and foremost, I miss you! I hope that you and your families are well.

I am not accustomed to writing to you all over spring break--as you know--I try to give you space when we are all away from school. However, these are different times and they call for different measures. To that end, I am writing today to give you some details about what to expect in the days to come.

Although I wish I were welcoming you back to campus next week, I write today with excitement and enthusiasm for the plan our extraordinary educators have put together for next week. As you know, we will take Monday, March 30th and Tuesday, March 31st as Professional Development Days to work (virtually, of course). You can expect to hear from your mentor today or tomorrow to coordinate a time when and your mentor can check in via Google Hangouts Meet or Zoom before April 1st. In the spirit of partnership, we want your parents/guardians to know when this is happening, but they need not be present unless they want to say hi!

Many of you are looking for more specifics regarding our distance learning plan which can be found here

If our remote learning extends beyond April 3rd, we will communicate in more detail about all of the following topics and more:
  • We are all in this together! We want your feedback and know adjustments will be needed. We will send out a survey to all constituents on April 9th and make necessary adjustments to our tentative plan
  • Reimagining celebratory events in April and May with the help of our student leaders
  • Longer term student support with regard to learning services, counseling, grading policies, AP testing, pass/fail options, alternatives to traditional final exams, etc.
  • For more detailed information directly from the College Board regarding testing and AP classes: https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/about-ap/news-changes/coronavirus-update

Above all, and as always, we will keep YOU at the center of our decision making both individually and collectively. You are our raison d'être and we want to make sure that we are here for you during these uncertain times. Please don’t hesitate to reach out directly to any one of us with questions or concerns. We can’t wait to “see” you soon.

Enjoy these last days of break!
Ms. Ritzman
