UPPER SCHOOL FALL SPORTS

Cross Country - The cross country team had another successful season as they achieved their team goal and reached many personal bests. The team placed fifth at the OHSAA Division II District Meet to advance to Regionals. Caroline Millican '17 placed fifth at the Regional Meet to advance to the State Championship in Hebron, Ohio. Caroline finished 15th in the state with a time of 18 minutes and 49 seconds. Congratulations to the entire team and Coach Meredith Shaul on a great season.

Field Hockey - Head Coach Ahyodha Kishna and the team finished their first full season on the new turf field with a record of 12-5. The team was the fourth seed in post season play and made it to the District Semi-Final. M. Butler '17, M. Cha '17, and A. Chauvette '17 were named to the First Team All League, A. Jones '17 was named to the Second Team All League and A. Hammond '17, and K. Mullen '17 were named Honorable Mention All League. It is easy to see that the class of 2017 will be missed next season! Kudos to Coach Kishna and the field hockey team on a successful season.

Golf- Five members of the golf team (A. Stahler '17, C. Cohen '18, S. Jagetia '18, H. Froimson '18 and B.Gorman '20) advanced to the OHSAA Division I District Golf Championship. Alex Stahler's '17 district round landed her a spot in the OHSAA Division I State Championship at Ohio State University. Alex went on to play at OSU on a chilly, wet fall weekend and placed 15th in the state. Please join us in congratulating Coach Bill Scully and the rest of the Blazer golf team on a wonderful season.

Soccer - Blazer soccer played a tremendous post season as they captured the District Championship for the second consecutive year! The team advanced all the way to the Regional Final game where they ended the season with a record of 14-6-1. The team had several players named to GCSSCA first and second teams as well as honorable mention. The soccer team earned Team Academic All Ohio and five seniors earned individual Academic All Ohio. Congratulations to head Coach Carmen Ptacek and the soccer team on a season filled with growth and success.

Tennis - The tennis team achieved levels of success this season that will be hard to repeat. First, the team had seven players qualify for the OHSAA Division II State Championship (C. Areklett '17, L. Gillinov '17, A. Persky '17, I. Daverio '19, M. Lynch '19, R. Wolf '19, N. Gillinov '20). Seven is the maximum amount of players that can qualify from one school, HB was the only team with seven state qualifiers. Next, on one court, C. Areklett '17/A. Persky '17 won the OHSAA Division II Doubles State Championship while L. Gillinov '17 played her sister N. Gillinov '20 for the OHSAA Division II Singles State Championship. Lauren was victorious for the third consecutive year. Last but not least, the entire team won the OTCA State Championship earning the Blazers a "triple crown" for the first time in school history! Please join us in congratulating OTCA Coach of the Year, Greg Aten and the tennis team for an amazing season.

Volleyball - The volleyball team finished their season with a record of 15-8 under first year head coach Michael Jackson. The team earned the third seed for the post season and advanced to the OHSAA Division II District Semi-final game. The team averaged 10.2 kills per set and 16.7 digs per set, some of the highest in the area! Please join us in applauding Coach Jackson and the volleyball team on a season filled with development and success!
