2014 Tri-C High School Rock Off chooses its first three finalists: Backstage Politics, High Acres and Toxic Lemons

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The opening night of the Tri-C High School Rock Off featured 11 bands vying for a spots in the "Final Exam" to be held Feb. 1. In the end, three acts were chosen to move on: Backstage Politics, High Acres and Toxic Lemons

The competition continues with additional preliminary rounds Jan. 17-19 and Jan. 25. A total of 55 bands are competing, with three bands from each round moving on to the Final Exam for a total of 15 finalists.

Future preliminary rounds take place at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17; 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18; 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19; 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25. The Final Exam is 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1. The House of Blues is at East Fourth Street and Euclid Avenue in Cleveland.
