Hathaway Brown's 5th grade class, under the guidance of Janine Sekulich, placed first in the nation for their scores in all categories — General News, Arts Entertainment, Science Health, Business Finance, and Sports — in the first Current Events League meet of the season.  Schools from 13 states competed in the League at the fifth grade level.

The fifth graders prepare for the meets by working in investigative teams on weekly presentations utilizing various resources and media to inform classmates about current events.  Their enthusiasm for learning about what is going on in the world around them has extended beyond the classroom to the dinner table at home, where they are eager to discuss current events impacting our world.  Questions and comments abound as they seek to increase their understanding of the global community.

Congratulations to the fifth grade team!
