The Hathaway Brown track team will be led by Bruce Sherman as he's taking over the program.

Sherman has nine years of head coaching experience at West Geauga and another eight years of assistant coaching experience at Kent Roosevelt, Solon and Hawken School.

“I’m very excited to see how the team comes together,” Sherman said. “This is a very hard working group of student athletes with a nice mix of seasoned veterans and promising newcomers.”

The Blazers will be led by senior Caitlin Clapacs, junior Alden Cowap and sophomore Cristina Gurney in the middle and long distance events. Malorie Polster, a senior, will compete in the long sprints and middle distance events along with the long jump. Junior Ingrid Zippe and sophomore Garren Dulka will also run middle to long distance events.

Junior Colleen Lavelle and sophomore Maggie Lowenthal will concentrate on sprints. Lavelle will also compete in the high jump while Lowenthal will add the long jump to her events.

HB will have twins Jordan and Reilly Doak compete in the sprints and long jump as freshmen along with sophomore sprinter Imani Edwards. Junior Serena Chang will add depth in the sprint events.

Kayleigh Loveland, a junior, is the Blazers' top thrower while senior Sam Reeves and freshman Emma Bryan will run hurdles.

The Blazers will face Wickliffe in a dual meet at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Wickliffe to open the season.
