SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio –- Shaker Heights Schools has named a new assistant superintendent of business and operations, and middle school principal.
David Glasner – previously a principal at a New York City high school - replaces former Shaker Heights Middle School Principal H. Danny Young Jr., who now is the principal at Woodbury Elementary School.
Stephen Wilkins - chief operations officer of DeKalb County Schools, a 99,000-student district outside Atlanta, Ga., - is the next assistant superintendent. The school board is expected to formally approve Wilkins' appointment later this month.
Shaker resident to return for visit from Peace Corps
Mavis Delaine, a 2007 graduate of Shaker Heights High School and 2012 graduate of Central State University, will return to Shaker to visit Monday (June 23). She has been serving as a public health educator in the U.S. Peace Corps in Kenya.
Delaine has been in Kenya for more than a year. She will be leaving Shaker after her weeklong visit to complete her 27-month assignment, which ends in August 2015.

Local students earn scholarships
Shaker Heights High School senior Andrew Wang, Hathaway Brown senior Nicole Chesnokov and Laurel School senior Jessie Anderson received $100 Future Scholars Awards from the Cleveland Association of Phi Beta Kappa.
They were among 112 seniors honored for their academic achievements during a recent awards banquet.
