IngenuityFest 2015 soggy, but not rained out (photos)

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The lakefront was humming around Voinovich Park in downtown Cleveland Saturday, but you wouldn't have known it if your only stop was IngenuityFest 2015.

In the opening hours of the Day Two of the three-day event, the vendors and exhibitors appeared to outnumber visitors, and in all probability the cold, wet weather was to blame.

The innovative celebration of art, technology, music and -- yes, innovation -- has been a good draw for the past 10 years.

"We're going to make all of our money tomorrow," a hopeful Joel Michael said as he manned the counter at the Great Cleveland Hot Dog concession.

Warmer weather is predicted for Sunday, the last day of the free-admission, mostly outdoor festival, that runs from noon to 6 p.m. that day.

Meantime, the Great Lakes Science Center was packing them in on Saturday, and it didn't hurt that the center just opened a traveling exhibition delivering on every teacher's promise that its subject can be fun.

The nearby Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, too, appeared to hop.

The weather bothered IngenuityFest on Friday as well. The city ordered exhibitors to stop putting up tents because of strong winds.

Annie Weiss, a spokeswoman for the fest, said the tents for the began to go up at 6 a.m. Saturday instead, and everything seemed to be in place by noon. But the rain never really stopped as evening came.
