Alumnae News & Highlights
On Veterans Day, we honor the brave women and men who have dedicated themselves to serving our country. HB is proud to recognize three alumnae, Elisabeth Collura-Rosenberg ’96, Eboni Witherspoon White ’95, and Monica Ramsey Jordan ‘87, who have made contributions in the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, and U.S. Air Force.
Elisabeth Collura-Rosenberg ’96 - U.S. Army Veteran
Elisabeth's military journey began in 2000 when she joined the U.S. Army. Her decision to serve was influenced by a passion for skydiving, which led to her being recruited by the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) and accepting a scholarship to the U.S. Army Airborne School.
Over the course of her 11 years of service, Elisabeth became a dual-rated helicopter pilot and earned multiple badges, including Army Aviator, Airborne, Air Assault, and Pathfinder. Of her many jobs, her favorite was Commander of the Aero-Medical Evacuation Helicopter Company for the Texas Army National Guard, Alamo Dustoff. Elisabeth's “learn for life” attitude, unique skill set, and leadership made her an invaluable asset in managing large-scale events and addressing individual needs with efficiency.
Elisabeth attributes her leadership skills and willingness to embrace challenges to her time at Hathaway Brown where she learned how to learn and discovered her own capacity to lead with humility and honor.
Today, Elisabeth prefers to keep her feet on the ground as she remains a dedicated servant leader and a lifelong student, while making a positive impact on her community.
Eboni Witherspoon White ‘95 - U.S. Marine Corps Veteran
In 1997, Eboni Witherspoon White enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Her decision was deeply influenced by her family's history of military service and a strong sense of duty to serve.
During her 11-year career in the Marine Corps, Eboni obtained both her bachelor's and master's degrees. Eboni's military service also led to memorable experiences, including a deployment overseas in Okinawa, Japan. These experiences allowed her to immerse herself in different cultures and forge lasting friendships. Eboni remains connected to the people she met during her time in Japan.
Eboni attributes her fearlessness and determination to her time as a student at Hathaway Brown. Eboni reflects, "HB gave me the strength to step out and face every challenge head-on. No fear, no backing down." We are proud of Eboni's resilience, determination, and courage needed to meet the demands of military service with grace and unwavering commitment. She continues to confront challenges head-on without fear or hesitation.
Monica Ramsey Jordan ‘87 - U.S. Air Force Veteran
Following Monica’s graduation from HB she enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees, was trained as an avionics technician on F-15 fighter jets and computer operator, and received her commission at Officer Training School. Throughout her time in the Air Force, Monica had many unique roles including classified message processing for the Defense Intelligence Agency and managing software development for the Global Positioning System satellite constellation.
Of her many accomplishments, including receiving a Joint Service Commendation Medal, four Air Force Commendation Medals, and two Air Force Achievement Medals, Monica is most proud of becoming an officer in the research and development of many future technologies. Monica acknowledges the impact HB had on her decision to pursue an education in mathematics and engineering which helped her become a successful officer in the Air Force.
Monica’s military career took her across the globe, where she had the opportunity to meet and connect with people from various backgrounds. Since retiring at the age of 48, Monica has been able to continue her passion for traveling.
