Where Purpose Meets Possibility: Finding the Right Fit for Every Student

The college search is an important milestone — and at Hathaway Brown, it’s more than just a checklist. We see it as a meaningful part of each student’s growth, both academically and personally.

Through guided reflection, organization, writing, and decision-making, students build on the skills they’ve developed throughout their time at HB. Just as importantly, they grow in confidence, resilience, and independence — qualities that will serve them well in college and beyond.

With these at the center, the college search becomes a positive, empowering journey.

Our counseling program is grounded in four core values: Self-Awareness. Student Agency. Authenticity. Individuality.

Self-Awareness

Through Junior and Senior Forum, one-on-one meetings, and interest surveys, our counselors guide students in thoughtful self-reflection, helping them identify schools that will allow them to thrive and meet their goals.

Student Agency

With support from parents and counselors, each student takes the lead in her own college search. As she gains confidence in making decisions and navigating the process, she builds the independence that will serve her well in college and beyond.

Authenticity

Students don’t need to fit a mold — they just need to be themselves. Colleges value genuine voices, real interests, and authentic goals, and we help students recognize and embrace their uniquely wonderful selves. Be YOU!

Individuality

At HB, we know no two college journeys are alike. Each student approaches the process with a different level of readiness, and our counselors meet her where she is — offering steady guidance without pressure or comparison.
