Three Ways to Recognize National Philanthropy Day
- School News
National Philanthropy Day is recognized annually on November 15 as a day to celebrate charitable activities — donations, in-kind gifts and services, and volunteerism. Here are three ways for members of the HB community to recognize National Philanthropy Day:
Make a Gift
Since 1876, HB has given girls the tools needed to confidently embrace every opportunity that exists for them beyond our Shaker Heights campus. A gift to the Annual Fund ensures HB remains a place where girls are empowered to ask questions, challenge conventions, and explore endless possibilities. The Annual Fund supports:
- outstanding faculty
- academic and experiential opportunities
- tuition assistance
Random Acts of Kindness
Pay it forward to a friend or loved with a random act of kindness. Here are ideas to get you started:
- pay for the person behind you in the drive-through
- let someone go ahead of you in a line
- buy extra at the grocery store and donate it to a food pantry
- buy flowers for someone (postal worker, grocery store clerk, bus driver, etc.)
- post anonymous sticky notes with validating or uplifting messages around for people to find
- compliment a peer or colleague on their work
- send an encouraging text to someone
- let a car into the traffic ahead of you
Send a Thank You Note
Connect with a former teacher, mentor, or coach to thank them for the influence in your life. You can even make a gift to HB in their honor.
