Student Artists Win 80 Awards at the 2025 Scholastic Art Awards

Hathaway Brown School is thrilled to announce that 80 of its talented visual artists have been recognized in the prestigious 2025 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. This remarkable achievement underscores the creativity, dedication, and passion of HB students in the visual arts.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, established in 1923, are the nation’s longest-running and most esteemed recognition program for creative teens. Each year, thousands of students across the country submit their work for consideration, making the recognition of 80 HB students a truly outstanding accomplishment.

Among the awardees, several students received the highly coveted Gold Key distinction, which qualifies their work for national adjudication. Many others earned Silver Keys and Honorable Mentions, celebrating their artistic excellence in various media, including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, digital art, and mixed media.

Please join us in celebrating Jasmine Neumann '25 and Michaela Kirkpatrick '26 for earning National Gold Medals. Less than 8% of regional Gold Key winners receive national recognition, making this an incredible achievement.

Jasmine's work delves into profound questions of memory and identity - where we house our sense of self, who we become when we lose it, and whether life is simply the continuity of consciousness. Michaela's charcoal self-portrait is a stunning study in observation, with expressive mark-making that captures a real sense of wonder.
