Rachel Lintgen is the New Upper School Director

Rachel Lintgen joins Hathaway Brown as the Upper School director effective July 1.

“I am thrilled to be a part of a community that mirrors my core beliefs about the power of education and the potential of the young people we serve," she said. I admire that HB values each girl as an individual and nurtures the collective spirit of the community."

Rachel is a proud graduate of Amherst College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and stayed on after graduation to train and supervise resident counselors as a health and wellness advisor. She went on to pursue her master’s degree in education at the University of Pennsylvania in teaching English and history. She taught high school for the next 18 years in public institutions as well as independent schools including Holton Arms (MD) and Germantown Academy (PA). Most recently, she has served as dean of students at Germantown Academy – helping to create a robust advisory program that is highly coordinated with their DEIB roadmap, honor code, and core values.

Rachel has strong communication skills, organizational skills, and teaching talent that will enhance HB's distinguished academics in the Upper School. It's her priority to ensure this school community is infused with purpose, kindness, curiosity, and joy. She has been involved with intensive training programs that align with our work at HB, including the Stanley King Institute, The Race Institute, and Columbia University’s Klingenstein Center.

"One of Rachel's first duties is to engage in a listening tour with all Upper School stakeholders as her fresh perspective is invaluable to our continued position as the #1 all-girls high school and #1 college prep high school in Ohio," said Head of School Dr. Fran Bisselle. "I have also asked Rachel to build upon the strong vision Associate Head of School Sheri Homany set forth as interim Upper School director—including a culture of excellence, teamwork, wellness, and Blazer pride."

"I am excited to work with HB's incredible educators as their passion and dedication are hallmarks of the school’s top-notch reputation," said Rachel. "HB’s mission and values align with my own and I know my skills and passions will contribute to the school as it continues to evolve and thrive.”
