Mourning the Loss of the Scaravilli Sisters
- School News
The Hathaway Brown School community mourns the loss of rising ninth-grader Scout Scaravilli and rising seventh-grader Chasey Scaravilli. Scout and Chasey were involved in a tragic accident at their Cleveland Heights home on Sunday, June 14, 2020.
Grief counseling opportunities were available for students, parents, and faculty members. Additionally, members of the HB community gathered on campus Monday, June 15 to reflect on the life and memories of Scout and Chasey. Watch the program streamed via WKYC.
"The entire HB community is saddened by the loss of the Scaravilli sisters; they will be greatly missed by so many friends, classmates, and teachers,” said Head of School Fran Bisselle. “Our thoughts and prayers are dedicated to their family."
Heidi Scaravilli describes her daughters as being as close as any sisters could be. Their personalities may have been different—Scout the selfless, nurturing “second mother” and Chasey the quick-witted “firecracker”—but they loved each other with their whole hearts.
J.J. Scaravilli's eyes sparkle when he thinks about how his daughters’ presence felt like instant electricity. “They were charming. They were sweet. They were powerful. They were adored,” he says. Read more about Scout and Chasey.
