Kaisal Shah ’21 Wins Grand Prize in Art Competition

  • Student News

Kaisal Shah ’21 is the grand prize winner in the annual iN Education’s Battle of the Teal art competition. Kaisal's "Development," a New York stop motion art, received the Best in Show award. The piece was also featured in the spring 2020 edition of Retrospect - Hathaway Brown's student-produced magazine.

“Development shows how New York City has changed over the past few hundred years," said Kaisal. "I researched what that exact space in Times Square looked like in the 17th century and showed how it changed into what it is now using William Kentridge’s style and technique. The location in Times Square is an AMC theater where a documentary film a friend and I created showed this past fall."

The Battle of the Teal is an annual art program to showcase the work of student visual and performing artists. The Battle of the Teal program connects youth with industry professionals, like-minded peers, art enthusiasts, organizations, and colleges throughout Northeast Ohio.
