HB Senior Hua Fang '23 was recognized as a Regeneron Science Talent Search Scholar! She was chosen based on her outstanding research, leadership skills, community involvement, commitment to academics, creativity in asking scientific questions and exceptional promise as STEM leaders. She demonstrated this through the submission of her project, "The Role of Voltage-Gated Calcium Channel CaV1.2 in Blood-Brain Barrier Damage and Neuroinflammation."
Regeneron Science Talent Search is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors. Hua is one of the top 300 qualifiers selected from nearly 2,000 applications spanning across 627 high schools from 48 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and four other countries. As a top qualifier, Hua eared a financial award. She also earned Hathaway Brown a financial award that will go toward STEM-related activities.
On January 24, 40 of the 300 scholars will be named Regeneron Science Talent Search finalists. The finalists will then compete for more than $1.8 million in awards during a week-long competition in Washington, D.C., taking place March 9-15.
