HB Senior Madeleine Burke Wins City Debate Championship
- Student News
Hathaway Brown School is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Madeleine Burke ’25, who emerged victorious at the City Debate Championship held at the City Club of Cleveland.
Madeleine tackled the compelling resolution: Resolved: The development of artificial general intelligence is immoral. With her well-researched arguments, poised delivery, and sharp critical thinking, she exemplified the skills and confidence of a true Blazer. Her ability to articulate complex ideas and engage with counterarguments set her apart in a competition that demanded both thoughtful analysis and influential speaking.
Madeleine’s success is more than just a win; it is a demonstration of how young women are using their voices to lead, inspire, and shape the future. At Hathaway Brown, students are encouraged to challenge ideas, think critically, and express themselves with confidence—qualities that Madeleine displayed brilliantly in this championship.
We are incredibly proud of Madeleine’s accomplishment and the dedication she has shown to her craft. Her victory serves as an inspiration to the HB community and beyond, reinforcing the importance of fostering strong and empowered women leaders.
Congratulations, Madeleine!
