Ashley Kelly is the New Athletic Director

After a thorough national search and an impressive array of candidates, HB is delighted to announce that Ashley Kelly will join our team as Athletic Director in mid-July. Ashley will step into this role as Stacey Aroney transitions to become the Director of our Competitive Swimming and Diving program, which includes HB's swimming/diving teams and the Blazing Barracuda Swim Club.

Ashley is a proud graduate of Howard University where she earned a BA in Public Relations and Sports Administration. She brings extensive athletic administrative experience, having served as the Athletic Director at both the Cambridge School of Dallas and Coram Deo Academy in Flower Mound, Texas. Most recently, Ashley was the Girls Athletic Director and track coach at Liberty Christian School in Argyle, Texas, where the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) awarded her program the Henderson Cup for best athletic program in the State and overall girls state champions for most successful girls athletic program. Liberty Christian’s track & field team qualified 20 individuals for the TAPPS state championship this spring and earned five individual state titles. Additionally, their 4x1 relay team was ranked in the top 20 nationally and qualified five individuals for the Nike Outdoor Nationals.

Ashley’s exceptional communication and organizational skills, coupled with her profound understanding of sports and conditioning for girls, have garnered her recognition as one of nine individuals selected for leadership on the Executive Board of TAPPS. We look forward to her bringing these strategic skills to HB. Upon her arrival, Ashley will embark on a fall listening tour with student-athletes, parents, and colleagues to further our commitment to a visionary athletic program.

Ashley expressed her enthusiasm for her new role by saying, “I look forward to optimizing the foundation of excellence that has already been built at HB, and to making sure our athletes feel supported, celebrated, prepared for success, equipped to gracefully walk through defeat, and challenged to lead well within their sport and throughout all areas of the Hathaway Brown community. I am beyond excited about this opportunity and to work with HB’s dynamic leadership team.”

Please join us in welcoming Ashley back to Ohio, as she grew up outside of Akron, and into our HB community. She is excited to embrace our mantra of “Learn for Life,” and we are thrilled that she will bring her extensive education and career experience to enhance our athletic program.
