Summary

Hathaway Brown School is seeking a full time science teacher who could work with girls aged Kindergarten to 4th grade. The ideal candidate has a passion for developing curiosity and an early interest in science concepts through discussion and hands-on lab experiences. He/ she will work effectively as a member of the Primary School division and the Science Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach our primary division science curriculum (Kindergarten-Fourth Grade)
     
  • Update and create curriculum in conjunction with current science standards in alignment with Primary School division goals
     
  • Create opportunities for students to see themselves as scientific learners
     
  • Collaborate with the Science Department to establish continuity 
     
  • Work with students on an individual basis in and outside of class time
     
  • Provide regular feedback (written and verbal) to students and parents
     
  • Prepare report cards
     
  • Maintain an organized classroom environment
     
  • Attend faculty, division and in-service meetings as scheduled
     
  • Support the Mission of the School

Education and/or Experience

  • A minimum of a  Bachelor’s degree in Science, or Elementary Education. Master’s preferred
     
  • Valid Teaching certification in Ohio, or ability to apply for certification
     
  • A passion for teaching and learning 
     
  • The ability to develop and implement an effective and engaging curriculum; a highly competent teacher
     
  • High-level of familiarity and competence across cultures and multiple perspectives
     
  • Familiarity and competence in technology skills
     
  • Superb communication skills
     
  • A growth mindset, energy and initiative
