Summary:

Hathaway Brown is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated librarian to cover students ranging in age from Kintergarten to 4th grade, preschool, pre-kindergarten and our infant toddler program. Successful candidates will inspire a love for reading and learning in our students. As the librarian, you will play a vital role in fostering literacy, supporting the curriculum, and creating an inviting educational library environment. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about helping young learners explore the world of books and information. This role has an expected duration of 12 weeks starting March 31, 2023.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing the school library, including organizing and cataloging books, digital resources and other materials. 

  • Foster a love of reading by recommending age-appropriate books and reading materials to students. 

  • Collaborate with teachers to support classroom instruction and integrate information literacy skills in the curriculum. 

  • Conduct library classes and storytelling sessions to engage students from our Infant Toddler Center, Early Childhood program and Primary Divisions. 

  • Assist students with finding and using resources and research and projects. 

  • Supporting all divisions by lending a helping hand when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially when working with children

  • Knowledge of children’s literature and education materials.

  • Familiarity with library management software and digital resources. 

  • Enthusiasm for promoting reading and learning in young students. 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor’s degree in Library services, Education or related field.
