Job Description:

Hathaway Brown School is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Middle School Cross Country to join our athletic department. The successful candidate will be passionate about introducing young athletes to the sport of track and field, fostering skill development, and instilling a love for physical activity.


1. Plan and lead age-appropriate track and field practices for middle school athletes.

2. Focus on fundamental skill development, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

3. Foster a positive and encouraging team environment.

4. Coordinate with other coaches, parents, and school administrators.

5. Attend scheduled games, practices, and team events.

6. Support student-athletes in their growth both on and off the field.


1. Previous coaching experience, preferably with middle school or youth running.

2. Knowledge of cross country rules, basic strategies, and coaching techniques.

3. Excellent communication and motivational skills.

4. Passion for working with middle school students and promoting positive character development.

5. Commitment to creating an inclusive and respectful team culture.

6. Uphold the values and mission of Hathaway Brown School.


1. Valid coaching certification and any other required credentials.

2. Completion of background checks and other school-specific requirements.

3. Availability for after-school practices and occasional weekend games.
