REPORTS TO: Director of Marketing & Communications





The Advertising and Marketing Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the marketing and communications strategies that further the mission and vision of Hathaway Brown School and its Strategic Plan. It is a 12-month position.


  • Collaborate with the department team in the successful implementation of HB’s annual marketing and communications plan.

  • Research and conduct competitive analysis on Independent school market and educational trends, analyze data, and convert findings into marketing efforts that support growth in enrollment and advancement metrics. 

  • Identify and implement advertising and marketing initiatives and ensure seamless execution of campaigns to reach HB’s target audiences; oversee the HB advertising budget for print and digital.

  • Manage HB website; collaborate with Director and third party developer in redesign of a new site to be launched in August 2025.

  • Ensure HB’s brand identity is consistently represented across all marketing and communication materials; conduct regular brand audits and recommend improvements as needed.

  • Write stories for web and print publications that tell the story of HB, keeping both internal and external audiences in mind. Use excellent grammar and follow AP Style guidelines.

  • Serve on the editorial team for HB’s twice-annual print alumnae magazine.

  • Assist with project and event management in all aspects of school operations.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Media buying experience (i.e. print, social media and/or radio)

  • Web maintenance experience; HB uses Finalsite content management system

  • Strong analytical skills; experience with Google Analytics and/or similar platforms

  • Detail oriented and able to balance multiple projects and deliver on deadline

  • Project management experience and strong technology/editing skills


Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
