Knowledge in Action

"We learn not for school, but for life” is our motto, and we take it seriously. That means real preparation for life ahead—personal growth, self-awareness, and valuable life skills.

Distinguished Academics

From early childhood to twelfth grade, a Hathaway Brown education empowers students to find their unique voices, explore their interests, and become the visionary leaders and changemakers the world needs. Guided by passionate and innovative educators in modernized classroom spaces, our students focus on learning as the key to a life that’s full of possibility.

A passionate community to inspire you

Lizzie Crotty '16

It’s okay to see a future for yourself that diverges into multiple paths. You don’t have to be just one thing or pursue only one passion. You can figure it out as you go along - most of us are.

HB gave me so much not only as a student but as an educator. I like to say that it raised me twice - once as a young woman discovering myself and next as an emerging leader finding my footing in an industry not necessarily made for women like me.

Betty Cope '43

Betty Cope was a pioneering leader in Cleveland television and a 1943 graduate of Hathaway Brown School. She began her career at WEWS-TV and went on to become the founding general manager and later president of WVIZ, helping build it into a nationally recognized educational television station. After retiring, she continued serving the community through environmental conservation and public land preservation.

Stephanie Sullivan '86

I had such a positive and empowering four years at HB, and I want more girls to get the same experience.
