American Red Cross Swim Lesson Levels and Program Progression

The skills listed below are what are covered in each level along with the exit assessment required to advance to the next level. Recommended ages are listed for each level and participants must be potty trained. Requests for age exceptions must be approved by the Director of Aquatics.

  • If a child cannot float or go underwater on their own, we recommend participating in KISS Aquatics program or private swim lessons.
  • If a child can complete Level III standards, we recommend joining LESD Swim Team White or Red Groups.
