2nd Grade Math Readiness

This course will help rising 2nd graders to build a solid foundation in computational skills including addition and subtraction.  Students will also be exposed to multi-step and word problems.  

2nd Grade Reading & Writing

Through a variety of fun activities, rising 2nd graders will develop key literacy skills.  Topics will include sentence structure, proofreading, creative writing, in addition to daily reading activities.

3rd Grade Math Readiness

Rising 3rd graders will get practice and review in this summer math course.  In addition to work with math facts and word problems, students will work with measurement, money, fractions, and time.

3rd/4th Grade Reading & Writing

Rising third and fourth graders will get a great jump start on the school year in this literacy course.  Students will work on their reading comprehension, fluency, and a variety of different writing activities, including proofreading and creative writing.

4th Grade Math Readiness

Rising fourth graders will focus on the following topics in this course: Practicing math facts up to 12, multiple digit addition and subtraction with regrouping, counting money, making change, determining place value up to 6 digits, reading an analog clock, counting elapsed time, and interpreting and solving word problems.

5th Grade Math Readiness  

This course is designed for students about to begin their fifth grade year.  The topics covered in this course include mastering multiplication facts, place value, and long division with an emphasis on word problems.

6th Grade Math Readiness

This course is designed for students who are two years away from beginning Algebra.  In addition to completing a pre-test to identify specific areas of need, topics like problem solving strategies, the fundamentals of our number system, part to whole meaning and order of operations will be covered.

7th Grade Pre-Algebra Readiness

This course is designed for students about to enter a Pre-Algebra in the coming school year.  In addition to completing a pre-test to identify specific areas of need, topics like proper algebraic formatting, order of operations, evaluating variable expressions, and ratios and proportional reasoning in geometry will be covered.

8th Grade Algebra Readiness

This course is designed for students about to enter Algebra in the coming school year.  In addition to completing a pre-test to identify specific areas of need, topics like proper algebraic formatting, order of operations, simplifying and evaluating variable expressions, and solving basic linear equations will be covered.

Continuing French

This course is designed for students who have completed at least one year of French language class.  Students will take a pre-test to identify which grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation are in need of review and work on those in a small group setting.  A perfect way to review skills before the 15-16 school years.

Continuing Spanish

This course is designed for students who have completed at least one year of Spanish language class.  Students will take a pre-test to identify which grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation are in need of review and work on those in a small group setting.  A perfect way to review skills before the 15-16 school years.

English/Grammar 1

The rising 5th and 6th graders in this class will use a common work of literature to inform a number of fun and engaging grammar activities.  Through creative writing and classroom discussion, students will enjoy developing their grammar and literacy skills.

Introductory French

This course is designed for students who are about to begin a first year of French language class.  Students will learn basic vocabulary and develop basic reading, writing, and pronunciation skills.

Introductory Spanish

This course is designed for students who are about to begin a first year of Spanish language class.  Students will learn basic vocabulary and develop basic reading, writing, and pronunciation skills.

Reading & Writing

This course for rising fifth and sixth graders will help students to refine their reading comprehension and other literacy skills.  In addition to using a variety of active reading techniques, students will work on strengthening inferencing skills as well as both creative and expository writing.

Reading, Writing, & Grammar

Rising 7th and 8th graders will use a common work of literature to develop their literacy skills. In addition to a focus on grammatical structure, students will also get exposure and review to both creative and expository writing.

Study Skills

This course is designed for rising fifth and sixth graders.  In addition to helping students to identify their optimal learning style, students will participate in a number of projects to develop note-taking, time-management, and test taking strategies.

Study Strategies

This course is designed for rising seventh and eighth graders.  In addition to helping students to identify their optimal learning style, students will participate in a number of projects to develop note-taking, time-management, and test taking strategies.
