Center for Innovative Teaching

Hathaway Brown’s Center for Innovative Teaching tends to the professional growth of our educational community, a dedicated and talented faculty and staff. In support of the School mission, the Center is committed to constantly improving the quality of the student experience by striving for best practice in teaching as well as innovation in curriculum and programming. The Center’s activities include a mentoring and orientation program for new faculty, a second year faculty coaching program, professional development funding for teachers and staff at all stages of their career, an in-house professional development series, department chair development, incubation of new curricular initiatives, graduate tuition assistance, Catalyst funding and Innovation grants for faculty pursuits. Directed by Associate Head of School, Sue Sadler, the Center facilitates the professional recruitment, hiring, and evaluation processes, and works with the Head of School and Board of Trustees on strategic planning.

Sue Sadler, Director

Sue Sadler has held many roles at HB and has enjoyed the many different perspectives her career path has offered. What hasn't changed over time is an undying appreciation for the earnest desire to learn that the girls of Hathaway Brown exhibit, and a tremendous respect for the dedication of the school's faculty. Together with parents, she has the highest hopes for girls as they continue their educational journey and hopes to be a support to each and every family.
