The Institute for 21st Century Education provides the educational framework for Middle School girls to make the most out of this exciting time in their lives. We combine a strong core curriculum with a broad spectrum of elective classes that allows girls to explore new areas of interest – from financial literacy to forensics, broadcasting to backpacking. Students also may choose topursue their intellectual passions outside of the classroom with the independent-study WEST Fellowship Program. The Science Research & Engineering Program provides the guidance of in-school mentors to help students as they explore real-life scientific issues. And our Middle School foundation emphasizes the importance of philanthropy and service to the larger community.
Most schools define their students’ educational paths, but HB lets students draw their own learning map through the unique Institute for 21st Century Education. At its most basic level, the Institute is an assortment of Centers — programs related to core classes that students can join if they so choose. Its nine centers will teach girls how to get big things done in a world that doesn’t operate by the conventions of a classroom syllabus. Each center aims to unleash students' creativity, imagination, and passion. In the Institute, girls can dabble, try new things, and hone the character traits that matter most: Grit, Zest, Resilience, Social and Emotional Intelligence. What’s more, they’ll have fun doing it.
