In today's world, yesterday's educational designs simply are not enough. Students need more than the ability to excel in the traditional academic disciplines. They need what Hathaway Brown's Institute for 21st Century Education provides: the chance to unleash their creativity; the freedom to discover an authentic self and to explore different ways of telling their stories; and a practiced competency in how to get big things done in a world that doesn't operate by the conventions of a classroom syllabus.

The Primary School's part of the Institute for 21st Century Education helps each girl build her foundation of knowledge and skills while also helping her identify passions and talents. Girls enter the Prime with experience in discovery learning and creative exploration. They have acquired a certain level of autonomy, which they're ready to expand and develop. As we layer new learning experiences and guide students to respect their passions, they begin to survey their possibilities and measure their imaginations. It is in pursuing this path that our girls find their way and gain confidence to reach for the next challenge.

Our stimulating core curriculum is supported by, and integrated with, a variety of specialty classes. It is the combination of these experiences which builds a foundation, fosters exploration, and makes a permanent impression on our young students.
