Center for Global Citizenship Lecture Series
The CGC sponsors a lecture and speaker series that brings in speakers that expose the girls to new ideas, challenges their thinking, and informs them of pressing global and domestic issues.
In previous years, US Attorney Steven Dettelbach and Federal Public Defender for the Northern District of Ohio Dennis Terez participated in a discussion about United States Constitution, the rights of the accused, and the role of the US attorney and public defender.
This visit was followed by a panel discussion with Chief Judge Alice M. Batchelder of the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, Judge Patricia A. Gaughan and Magistrate Judge Benita Y. Pearson of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, and Chief Judge Marilyn Shea-Stonum of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Clerk of Courts Geri M. Smith of the U.S. District Court for Northern Ohio moderated this panel discussion. This esteemed group of jurists discussed the law, the role of the courts, and their personal journeys to the bench.
Throughout the academic year, the CGC will bring in lunch speakers to address an array of global topics. These events are open to all students and faculty.
