I'm so pleased that you want to learn about Hathaway Brown, a school that simply is not like other schools. We still have classrooms and teachers. We still have bells that remind us that it's time for the next engrossing class or for the salad bar or turkey tetrazzini. But that's where the similarities end.
With the lovely exception of the boys in our Early Childhood program, we're an all-girls' school through and through. And our girls are on a mission. We believe that the 21st century will be the century of the woman and that our job at Hathaway Brown is to provide the opportunities, the instruction, the liberties that will prepare our girls to be the change-agents, the trailblazers of tomorrow.
To make that happen, we've redesigned the educational experience almost entirely. With our Institute for 21st Century Education, our students are able to do amazing things. Our Primary School girls can build robots. Our Middle Schoolers can write a novel under the guidance of a professional writer. Our Upper Schoolers can travel the globe to put into action what they've learned in our Center for Global Citizenship. And that's just the beginning.
HB isn't all about work though. It's about joy and enthusiasm. It's about discovering your truest, best self by experimenting and taking thoughtful risks. It's about finding your way to be successful.
I've been fortunate enough to be the Head of School since 1987. Over and over, I've seen the transformation that happens when students spend time with our teachers, in our programs, and among their peers. Hathaway Brown is an inspirational place to spend your days. We hope to see you in our halls soon.
