Hathaway Brown School - Case School of Engineering
FIRST Robotics Team #2399
The only All-Girl FIRST Robotics Team in Northeast Ohio!
The Hathaway Brown School - Case School of Engineering FIRST Robotics Team, #2399, was formed in 2007. It is the only all-girl FIRST Team in Northeast Ohio. Consisting of 15-20 young women in grades 9-12, this team successfully maneuvered its way through the Buckeye Regional in both 2008 and 2009, winning a major award each year.
In 2009, the team also traveled to the Pittsburgh Regional where it advanced to the semifinals!
The goals of the team include introducing young women to career fields in which women are significantly underrepresented. These students excel in computer, mechanical, electrical and robotics engineering once they are exposed to these fields, and would know very little about them if it were not for FIRST.
Not only are we potentially creating the future leaders in these fields, but we are developing professionals who can function well on a team that has huge goals and real deadlines. The FIRST experience is invaluable for these students, and the addition of potential female engineers to the workforce of the future is a benefit to society as well!
