CONGRATULATIONS TO TENNIS STATE QUALIFIERS:  CATHERINE AREKLETT '17, LAUREN GILLINOV '17 & ALLY PERSKY '17!

FALL SPORTS 

CROSS COUNTRY

The Varsity Cross Country team won the Doc Leonard Invitational on October 10th to finish one of their best regular seasons in team history. The Blazers head into the postseason with a chance of not only getting to the Regional Meet, but possibly advancing to the State Meet.

Next Meet: Saturday, October 18th - OHSAA Division II District Meet - 12:20 p.m. @ Lakeland Community College

FIELD HOCKEY

The Varsity Field Hockey team finished the regular season 12-4. They were the #2 seed in the Gates Mills District of the OHSAA Field Hockey Tournament.

The Junior Varsity Field Hockey team finished their season with a record of 8-2-4. They finished as the Runner-Up in the JV Field Hockey Tournament, falling in the Championship game 3-0 to Hudson on October 14th.

Next Game: Friday, October 17th - OHSAA Second Round vs. Maumee Valley Country Day - 4 p.m. @ Hathaway Brown School (Wolf Field)

GOLF

The Varsity Golf team finished their season with a 5th Place finish in the OHSAA Division II State Golf Tournament. Their two day team score was 702.  Congratulations to State team members Amanda Bingaman '15, Caroline Carulas '15, Katie McCarthy '16, Alex Stahler '17 & Sonum Jagetia '18 as well as coaches Jennifer Creech & Shawn Tompkins on their fantastic season!

SOCCER

The Varsity Soccer team completed a very tough regular season schedule with a 6-8-2 record. The team is the #1 seed in the University Heights District of the OHSAA Division II Soccer Tournament.

The Junior Varsity team ended their season with a 0-8-5 record.

Next Game: Saturday, October 18th - OHSAA Division II Sectional Championship vs. Edgewood (Ashtabula) - 3 p.m. @ Ursuline College

TENNIS
The Varsity "A" Tennis team's season came to an end at the hands of Orange by a 3-2 score in the OTCA Division II District Championship. They finish the season with an overall record of 11-3.

Lauren Gillinov '17 and the doubles team of
Ally Persky' 17 and Catherine Areklett '17 on their OHSAA Division II District Championships! They qualify to play in the OHSAA Division II State Tournament this weekend at Ohio State University on Friday & Hilliard Davidson HS on Saturday.

Next Matches: The OHSAA Division II State Tournament will be held on Friday, October 17th beginning @ 9 a.m. @ Ohio State University & on Saturday, October 18th beginning @ 9 a.m. @ Hilliard Davidson HS.

VOLLEYBALL

The Varsity Volleyball team finished the regular season with a record of 9-10. The team is the #3 seed in the Garfield Heights District of the OHSAA Volleyball Tournament.  The opened tournament play with a thrilling 5 set victory over Orange on October 15th to capture the OHSAA Division II Sectional Championship!

The Junior Varsity team finished their season with a record of 4-12.

Next Games: Tuesday, October 21st - OHSAA Division II District Semi-Final vs. Chagrin Falls - 5:30 p.m. @ Garfield Heights HS

GENERAL 

BLAZER SPIRIT CLUB

A special thank you to the Blazer Spirit Club for all of their help this fall with Senior Recognition days and team State Tournament send-offs. These are two of the events that the group will be helping with throughout the year, along with a few others.

The group, which has some great ideas and is gaining momentum, is headed up by Stacy Langenderfer along with Lisa Mortimer and Amy Paine. If you are interested in helping out, please contact one of them for more information.

VARSITY/JV BASKETBALL

Varsity & JV Basketball practice will begin on Saturday, November 1st from 9 a.m.-12 p.m..  Please contact Coach Barlow at pbarlow@hb.edu with any questions.

LESD OFFERINGS

Lake Erie Silver Dolphins will offer morning swim practices for any HB Middle/Upper School USA Swimmers Monday through Friday 6-7:30 a.m. Current USA Card will be required. Please do not arrive before 5:45 a.m. For questions, contact Stacey Vayo-Aroney at svayo@hb.edu.

CREW CLUB

Four of Hathaway Brown's rowers have been selected to compete at this year’s Head Of The Charles Regatta to be held on October 18th & 19th on the Charles river in Massachusetts. It is the 50th anniversary of that regatta and is the largest rowing race in the world. They all compete with the Cleveland Youth Rowing Association Women’s Team.  Congratulations to:
