UPPER SCHOOL - Volume 2, Number 4

CONGRATULATIONS TO SENIOR MELISSA VAJSKOP, WHO WILL BE SIGNING HER NCAA LETTER OF INTENT TO PLAY SOCCER AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI.  HER SIGNING CEREMONY WILL BE THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6TH AT 10:00am IN THE RECEPTION ROOM.  PLEASE COME OUT AND JOIN US FOR THE SIGNING!

BASKETBALL

The Varsity Basketball team fell this past Saturday to Eastmoor Academy (Columbus) by a score of 65-54.  The team was led by Freshman Christina Passerell's 17 points/11 rebounds & Freshman Dani Lawson's 15 points.  The team now has a record of 1-18.

Despite their regular season record, the team was seeded #6 out of 13 teams in the OHSAA Division II Macedonia District, and they will meet #9 seed Martin Luther King on Saturday, February 15th at 2pm at Hathaway Brown School in the Sectional Semi-Final game.

Two other notes:

Senior Recognition will be held on Tuesday, February 11th Vs. Beachwood at 6:30pm & Senior Beth Brzozowski needs 6 more 3-point field goals to become the school's all-time leader in 3-point field goals made.

The Junior Varsity also lost to Eastmoor Academy on Saturday in a hard fought game by a score of 38-29.  The team is currently 1-11.

Next Games:  Thursday, February 6th Vs. Walsh Jesuit - JV-6pm/Varsity-7:30pm; Saturday, February 8th @ Saint Joseph Academy - JV-2pm/Varsity-3:30pm; Tuesday, February 11th Vs. Beachwood - Varsity Only-6:30pm (Senior Recognition)


INDOOR TRACK & FIELD


The Indoor Track & Field team practices Tuesday & Thursday afternoons from 3:45pm-5:15pm.  Anyone interested in joining the team should contact Head Coach Bruce Sherman at bsherman@hb.edu.

 

SWIMMING & DIVING

The Varsity Swimming & Diving team is currently preparing for the OHSAA Division II Sectional meet.

Next Event:  Saturday, February 8th - OHSAA Division II Sectional Meet @ Hawken School - Gates Mills Campus - 10:00am

GENERAL

Crew Announcement from CYRA:

The Cleveland Youth Rowing Association is looking forward to an exciting and competitive New Year of rowing in 2014.  This spring you will see a Regatta schedule that takes us through the Midwest Junior Championship Regatta MJCR as well as youth nationals, this year  scheduled for Sacramento. Cleveland's rowing juniors and coaching community are already hard at work to re-enter these competitive venues. We welcome your student-athletes to join us!  Please encourage your 9th-12th grade student-athletes that are interested in competitive rowing for spring to get involved now. Your winter sports athletes may try-in when their seasons end. Coaches are at the boathouse six days a week training & conditioning athletes, there is no costs for this pre-season rowing introduction.
