| BLAZER ATHLETICS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER UPPER SCHOOL - Volume 1, Number 7 LACROSSE The Varsity Lacrosse team defeated Olentangy on Thursday, May 23rd by a score of 10-5 to capture the OSLA Division II Regional Championship. They now advance to the OSLA Division II State Semi-Final on Friday, May 31st Vs. New Albany @ 7:30pm @ Thomas Worthington HS in Columbus, Ohio. The team will be leaving for Columbus on Thursday, May 30th at about 5:30pm from the front circle of the school - please join us in sending them off to victory! HB will be offering a fan bus for faculty, staff & students for the game on Friday. The bus will leave Hathaway Brown School at 3:45pm, and it will return to HB about midnight. If you are interested in riding the fan bus, please pick up a permission slip in either the Athletic Office or the Upper School Office. The permission slips will be available beginning Tuesday morning. You must return the SIGNED permission slip by 1pm on Thursday, May 30th to the ATHLETIC OFFICE. There will be food available at the game at the concession stands. HB will reimburse you for your ticket if you bring your ticket stub to the Athletic Office sometime during the week following the game. If the Blazers are victorious in the State Semi-Final game on Friday - the team will play for the OSLA Division II State Championship on Saturday, June 1st at 3:30pm. That game will also be at Thomas Worthington HS. There will not be a fan bus for the State Championship game. This game will be shown (tape delayed) on Time Warner Cable (Channel 311 TWSOH) at 8:30pm. TRACK & FIELD The Varsity Track & Field team finished in an impressive 7th place out of 16 teams in the OHSAA Division II District Track Meet at Midview HS last Thursday, May 23rd & Saturday, May 25th. The team qualified one relay team (the 4 x 800) and one individual (Alden Cowap in the 3200) to the OHSAA Division II Regional Track Meet on Thursday, May 30th & Saturday, June 1st @ Bedford HS. The 4 x 800 team of Colleen Lavelle, Julia Weil, Christina Gurney & Sophie Richards won the District Championship, and they will compete on Thursday @ 4:30pm. Alden Cowap will run her event on Saturday @ 2:10pm. HB will reimburse you for your ticket if you bring your ticket stub to the Athletic Office sometime during the week following the meet. GENERAL A reminder to all Spring Sport Athletes that the Upper School Spring Sports Awards are on Tuesday, May 28th at 6:00pm in the Dining Hall.
