New Prime School Playground Becomes Reality with Mixon Family Gift

Date:

March 15, 2010

Hathaway Brown School is pleased to announce that we have received a generous gift from Barbara Weber Mixon’58 and her husband, A. Malachi Mixon III, to create the “Mixon Family Primary School Playground” at HB. Mr. and Mrs. Mixon stated that, “HB has been very important to the three current generations of our family, and we hope, even more to come.  We are delighted to make this gift to the school.”

Acknowledging their gift, Head of School Bill Christ said, “The Mixon Playground is going to take fun to a whole new level. The innovative design, vetted by a team of Trustees, administrators and Primary School students over the past several years, is unique to our area and will inspire discovery, play, and learning. This is a gift that celebrates the joys of childhood at its purest.  Everyone at HB, both the young and young-at-heart, expresses our tremendous gratitude to the Mixon Family.”

Construction is slated to begin at the end of May, and it is anticipated that the Mixon Family Playground will be completed by September for the start of the 2010-11 school year.
