UPPER SCHOOL FALL SPORTS

Cross Country - The team is at the finish line of their regular season and has been quite successful this fall. The team has been led by a healthy mixture of veterans and rookies who have all achieved personal best times throughout the season. The team took second place out of 11 teams at the Andrews Osborne Invitational two weeks ago and has had several top finishes throughout the year.  
Postseason: OHSAA Division II District Meet - Saturday, October 21 @ Lorain County Community College 2:00 p.m. 

Field Hockey - The varsity team ended the regular season with a record of 7-9 and earned the fourth seed for the district tournament. The team made marked improvements throughout the season and it showed as they played their toughest opponents in the second half of the season. The JV team ended their season this weekend in Toledo with a final record of 6-5-1. Despite many injuries, the JV team was resilient and continued to work hard to stay competitive. One highlight of their season was the homecoming win over Magnificat 2-1. 
Postseason: OHSAA State Qualifying Round 1 - Tuesday, October 17 @ HB vs. Walsh (#11 seed) 5:00 p.m. 

Golf- After a regular season highlighted by a number of personal bests and team first place finishes, the golf team is state bound! The team took first place in the OHSAA Division I Sectional tournament and third place in the OHSAA Division I District tournament. The third place finish at the district tournament earned the team a spot in the state tournament in Columbus. C. Cohen '18, H. Froimson '18, S. Jagetia '18, R. Gorman '20 and K. Hickey '20 head down to play in the state tournament at The Ohio State University Grey Course next Friday, October 20 and Saturday, October 21. Please join us in wishing them luck! 

Soccer - The varsity team just ended an eight game winning streak and has a record of 9-5-1 with at the conclusion of the regular season. This is the first year that the Blazers will compete in the OHSAA Division I State Tournament and the team earned the first seed in their district! The JV team has improved tremendously over the course of the season and will end their season on a great note! One highlight of their season was the win over Division I North Canton Hoover on homecoming.
Postseason: OHSAA Division I Sectional Final Game - Thursday, October 19 @ Ursuline College vs. TBD (winner of Valley Forge/Parma) 4:30 p.m. 

Tennis - The Varsity A team is heading down to states to defend their title once again! The team earned their 3rd consecutive spot in the OTCA state final four after their win on Thursday over Laurel 5-0. The Varsity A team has won 57 straight dual matches dating back to 2015. The Varsity A team also qualified 7 girls for the second year in a row for the district tournament. Six girls qualified this weekend at the district tournament for the individual state tournament. N. Gillinov '20 and M. Lynch '19 in singles and the doubles teams of
I. Godsick '20/M. Qiang '19 and I. Daverio '19/R. Wolf '19. The Varsity B team completed their season with a record of 11-4 in the new league division. Some highlights from their season were winning the Magnificat Doubles Tournament for the second year in a row and winning the gold silver and bronze trophies at the WRA Doubles Tournament. The JV team had a great season filled with development and fun.  They hosted the 1st Annual Blazer Doubles Tournament where they took first place and finished their season with a record of 9-2. Congratulations to the Varsity B and JV teams on a fabulous season. 
Postseason: OHSAA Division II Individual State Tournament - Friday, October 20 & Saturday, October 21 @ Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, OH
OTCA Division II Team State Tournament - Sunday, October 22 @ Reynoldsburg High School - Summit Road Campus 

Volleyball - The varsity team has a record of 12-11 going into the post season. The Blazers had a huge win this year over Beaumont and defeated several Division I schools.  The volleyball team will also compete at the Division I level in the postseason for the first time in school history. The Blazers head into the postseason as the fifth seed in the Solon District and sectional/district play begins this week. The JV roster was composed of 4 sophomores and 7 freshman but their youth did not show throughout the season. The team worked hard all season and battled with tough opponents, making it a successful fall. The JV team completed their season over the weekend at the Magnificat Quad where they had a strong showing. Congratulations on a great season!
Postseason: OHSAA Division I Sectional Semi-final Game - Tuesday, October 17 @ Solon High School vs. Max Hayes at 7:00 p.m. 

IMPORTANT ITEMS

  • At all OHSAA playoff games (home or away), admission will be charged to all spectators (parents, siblings, grandparents, friends etc.) - it is an OHSAA regulation. Please be prepared to pay for a ticket.
  • A current physical must be uploaded to Magnus Health in order for your daughter to start a winter sport (upper school and middle school).

  • Monday, October 23 - First day of middle school swimming 
  • Friday, October 27 - First day of varsity and JV basketball tryouts 3:30-5:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, November 1 - OHSAA Middle School Swim Parent Meeting 5:15 p.m. 
  • Friday, November 3 - First day of varsity swimming & diving
  • Thursday, November 9 - OHSAA Upper School Winter Sports Parent Meeting 6:00 p.m.
  • Upper School Fall Sports Awards - Tuesday, November 14 6:00 p.m. in the Ahuja Auditorium (dress up event)
  • Monday, November 27 - First day of middle school basketball 
  • Thursday, November 30 - OHSAA Middle School Basketball Parent Meeting 5:15 p.m.
  • Wednesday, February 28, 2018 - OHSAA Upper School Spring Sports Parent Meeting 6:00 p.m.  
MIDDLE SCHOOL 
The middle school fall sports season has come to an end. Each of the teams made tremendous strides over the course of the year and had success. The success not necessarily based on winning but instead centered around learning, whether it be skill development, team camaraderie, competing or dealing with adversity. Congratulations to cross country, field hockey, tennis and volleyball on a terrific fall!
