Hathaway Brown girls tennis team places second in OTCA state team tournament

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio -- Hathaway Brown girls tennis had quite the weekend.

On Saturday, No. 1 singles player Ariana Iranpour was crowned the Division II state singles champion.

Then on Sunday, despite missing Iranpour due to illness, Hathaway Brown finished second in the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association's state team tournament.  The team made it to state after winning the Northeast Ohio Division II tournament.

In the Division II semifinal round held at Reynoldsburg High, Hathaway Brown pulled the upset, beating  three-time defending state team champion Lexington, 3-2.

The wins came at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles all from three freshmen.

Then in the finals round, the Blazers fell to Indian Hills, 3-2. The deciding match came to a three-set showdown at No. 1 doubles.
