HB senior Emily Weinberg was named Field Hockey Player of the Year by the sportswriters at The Plain Dealer. A captain of the Varsity Blazer team, which took the State Runner-Up title (15-3-2) in OHSAA Division II this season, Weinberg was the area's top scorer in 2011. She was lauded for her 19 goals in 19 games, along with six assists. She also was named team MVP and she was a member of the All-Ohio squad, and the All-NEO League first team. A center midfielder, Weinberg will attend Georgetown University next year.

Two other Blazers were named to the PD Field Hockey All-Star team as well. Junior Mckenzie Retino, a forward, scored 13 goals and had five assists this year. She also was a member of the All-NEO League first team, and she was HB's most valuable offensive player two years in a row. Senior Becky Scanlon, another All-NEO League first teamer, was a three-year starter and two-time all-star for the Blazers. This center back had 46 interceptions with two goals and four assists in 2011.
