Area players are named to all district golf team

The Gilmour Academy boys golf team has two of its boys golfers on the northeast district first team.

Junior Andrew Bieber heads the list for GA as he won the Division III state tournament with a two-day total of 154. Joining him on the first team was teammate senior Duncan DeFino. Fellow Lancers Connor Moriarty, a senior, and Jake Althans, a sophomore, were named to the second team.

In Division I for the boys, David Rudary, a senior, of Solon made second team while junior Jamie Litzler of Chagrin Falls made the second team for Division II.

For the girls, three area golfers made the first team in Division II. Brynn FitzGerald, a senior from Orange, earned that honor as she was tied for second at the state tournament with a two-day total of 153. Sophomore Meredith Cohen of Hawken School also made first team as the Hawks reached the state tournament for the first time in school history. The third local golfer on the first team is junior Ashley Yarbrough of Hathaway Brown.

The Lions had two more girls who made the second team in seniors Rebecca Rabb and Sam King. Hawken's Allie Schwertner, a senior, also made the second team.
