Congratulations to eight SREP seniors whose original research conducted mostly in labs at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) was presented at the AAAS Annual Meeting in Chicago, February 12-16. AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science) is the largest scientific professional organization in the U.S.

They were among a total of 154 high school students from 25 states who earned the right to present posters of their research at the AAAS, which is attended by thousands of scientists.

The students are pictured to the left:

Front row left to right

Dhikshitha Balaji, Polymer Research in CWRU

Aparna Narendrula, Astrophysics Research from Summer Science Institute in Socorro, NM

Nicole Chesnokov, Medical Research at CWRU School of Medicine

Back row left to right

Rajashree Hariprasad, Medical Research at CWRU School of Medicine

Riya Jagetia, Physics Research at CWRU Dept of Physics

Lulu Sun, Biomedical Engineering Research at CWRU School of Engineering

Susie Min, Medical Research at CWRU School of Medicine

Grace Li, Biosensor Development at CWRU School of Engineering, Electronic Design Center

Nicole, Dhiksha, Grace, and Lulu have been accepted to MIT, Yale, Dartmouth and Northwestern, respectively, for next year. The others are undecided at this time. This distinguished group of eight joins 27 previous HB students who earned the right to present their work at the AAAS over the past 16 years. All have been members of the school's Science Research & Engineering Program (SREP) in which students conduct research in real research labs under the mentorship of professionals for two to four years of high school.

Congratulations to these students!
