FINANCIAL AID
Scholarships:
- Merit-based financial assistance offered in recognition of a student’s academic, personal, extracurricular and/or athletic achievements and promise, regardless of whether a student qualifies for assistance on the basis of demonstrated financial need. Scholarships do not require repayment like a loan.
Grants:
- Financial aid money from the Federal/state government or college in which you enroll. Grants do not require repayment like a loan.
Loans:
- Financial assistance which must be repaid over an extended period of time, generally after a student completes an undergraduate degree, but occasionally beginning during undergraduate enrollment. (Source: Phillips Exeter Academy)
